Information Processing Model
The information processing model of teaching is widely inquiry-based learning. It focuses on concept information, inquiry learning, and synectics. With information processing models, lessons that are problem-based span several days, or even weeks. There are four major phases in this model:
1. Presenting the question to the class.
2. Organizing the class for inquiry.
3. Assisting students with investigation.
4. Presenting results and findings.
A solid, problem-based inquiry lesson begins with the teacher assisting students in identifying the problem, and looking for real-life answers or solutions. With this mode of teaching, it is important to organize students into collaborative groups for investigation.
